Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia (UTHM) 13rd Convocation Ceremony

BATU PAHAT, 6 OCT 2013 : Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia (UTHM) had conducted 13rd Convocation Ceremonies which was held from 5-7 Oct 2013 at the Sultan Ibrahim Hall, UTHM with arrival of Sultan of Johor, UTHM Chancellor DYAM Tunku Ibrahim Ismail Ibni Sultan Iskandar, UTHM Pro-Chancellor, Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Chairman of UTHM, Tan Sri Dato' Ir. Jamilus Md Hussin, UTHM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Noh Dalimin and other UTHM professors and staffs. UTHM 13rd Convocation Ceremonies was divided into 5 sessions which had conducted for 3 days started from 5-7 Oct 2013.

3520 graduates of Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia (UTHM) received their PhD, master’s degrees, degrees and diplomas during the University’s 13rd Convocation Ceremony. During the first session, UTHM Chancellor, DYAM Tunku Ibrahim Ismail Ibni Sultan Iskandar conferred the doctoral degree, master’s degrees and special awards to the graduates.  Among the awards were the Royal Award, the Chancellor Award, and Bachelor’s Degree Project Award.

Early in the morning of 6 Oct 2013, I took the opportunity to interview one of my friends, Mr. Kenny Chiew, a senior of mine from Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (FKEE) which was received his degrees in Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with Honours during the UTHM 13rd Convocation Ceremonies session 4. These are some informations of Mr. Kenny Chiew.

Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia (UTHM) 13rd Convocation Ceremonies session 4 was held on 6 oct 2013 ( Sunday) started from 2pm at Sultan Ibrahim Hall, UTHM. 799 graduates received their degrees in the afternoons from 3 different faculties which are Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Technology Management and Business follow by Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education.

At the beginning of the Convocation Ceremonies, all graduates required to register at Sultan Ibrahim Hall started from 12pm to 2pm. At 2pm, after the registration section is closed, all graduates started to enter the hall with systematic followed by their parents. At 2:30 pm, the arrival of UTHM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Noh Dalimin. Next UTHM Convocation Ceremonies session 4 started by singing of national anthem of malaysia, Johor state anthem followed by UTHM anthem. After the anthem section, UTHM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Noh Dalimin had delivered his speech to all graduates with wishes to all graduates would able to lead a better future in other to produce technologists who can help develop the country towards excellence, especially in engineering and technical fields. After the speech section, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Noh Dalimin had declared Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) 13rd Convocation Ceremonies session 4.

At 3pm, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Noh Dalimin began to confer degrees to all 799 graduates. Mr. Kenny Chiew was the 50th graduate received his degrees in Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with Honours from Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. After 2 and half hours, 799 graduates finally had received their degrees award and Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia (UTHM) 13rd Convocation Ceremonies session 4 had ended, all graduates came out from the Sultan Ibrahim hall and had photography section with their family and friends. At last, I would like to congratulations to Mr. Kenny Chiew and all other UTHM graduates which had succeed in their degrees and wish all of them have a better future.

UTHM FKMP Dean's List Award Ceremony


September 24, 2013 – Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (FKMP) with the assisted of FKMP Alumni dan FKMP student Associations had organized a Dean's List Award for sessions 2012/2013.  The venue for the dean's list award ceremony is Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail (DTII) , Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).  This award were for the FKMP students whose obtained excellent results with grade point average (GPA) 3.50 and above in previous semester’s final examination.  There were 551 students that listed for this award but only about 400 student attend this ceremony.


At 2.15 pm, the ceremony was opened by the speech of FKMP Dean, Assoc. Prof Dr Yusri Bin Hj Yusof.  In his speech, he put emphasis on students academics and development of personality. He said that, it is great significance to get excellent academics, but the good soft skills can be regarded as the additional generic skills and a bonus to the student such as effective communication skills able to improve their interpersonal relationship. On the other hand, he reminded students should learning much soft skills and then become a preparation for the industrial training and the future career.  He also hand mention the amount of students apply to UTHM increased from the last semester intake. At the end of his speech, he very thankful to the organizer and congratulated to the students on their achievement in academics.




After the speech were given, the ceremony continues by awarded the Dean’s List award certificate. Each student on the Dean’s List was called up one by one and awarded their certificate by a representative from their course and session. Accomplished awarded dean’s list certificate, the students has a opportunity to photograph with FKMP Dean and staffs.  





The Dean’s List Award ceremony ended at 5.00pm followed by reception drinks and photographs.

UTHM RuamThai Club Gathering Party



UTHM RuamThai Club Gathering Party


On 22 September 2013, 6.00 pm, the Association of University of Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) Siamese Student also known as RuamThai were had a night barbecue (BBQ) at residential house No. 14, Taman Waja, Parit Raja. There were 9 people of Siamese students and joined by 6 Chinese students whose participate in this gathering. The purposes of this gathering are to mingling with all senior and junior students also the non-Muslim student as well as planning activities for this semester. All of these Siamese students were from different faculty of UTHM. There were from Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (FKMP), Faculty of Electrical and Electronic (FKEE), Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV) and Faculty of Technology Management and Business (FTP). Six students were taking Degree Program (FKMP, FKEE and FTP), two students taking Master Program (FPTV) and only one student taking a Diploma Program (FKEE). The president of this association, Mr Pijaphan A/L Jot a 2nd years FKEE student’s  said, this gathering is more to discuss and sharing experience  about how to improve study in university life(UTHM). On the other hand, the participants can express their problem especially for a new student for this semester (2013/2014 session) while having a barbecue.

This gathering was planned by Miss Chitra Charenphong, first semester of Master Program (FPTV) with the helps by No.14, Taman Waja Residential House (Chinese Student). The menus for the barbecue were chickens, sausage, fish, fried bihun and mineral water that cost RM80.00. The other equipment for culinary cost about RM 131.10 makes it RM 211.10 for the total amount. It ends about 10.00 pm. 

Along this night barbecue, these Siamese student were sat together and start to introduce themselves, sharing their background profile and while the other non-Muslim student prepare and serve the meals.  It was very enjoyable because these Siamese junior students were committed in every part of this activity even though there are new in this university and mixing with the other non-Muslim students.



All the participants were wearing a suitable dress that night. Some of the participants were said that they were very happy to join this party. As Miss Urai A/P Chen said (3rd Semester Master Program in FPTV), in the future, they will join the Loy Krathong Festival at Johor Bharu, where this is Siamese traditional ceremony that celebrated each year in October or November and they also organized some activities such as family day activities and jungle trekking at Bukit Soga.

Printing Traning Event



On 21 SEPTEMBER 2013, 8.00Am. Held an event at Taman Universiti, Parit Raja. This event was known as Printing T-shirt. This event was organized by Mr.sharifudin from 1MalaysiaPrinting. The ware 20 participant on this event. This event is done to reveal more about the printing on the t-shirts in public, especially in younger groups. In addition, it also is as to attract the public to participate in the field printing. Indirectly, it can give encouragement to the public to participate in business. Exactly at 8.30 am registration opens to those who are interested. No service charge per participant. The end of the registration, the event started with the introduction of the basic ingredients in shirt printing and also how to make logos.  After that, the organizer will explain to the participant in how to print T-shirt.          
    

At 2.00 Pm, the organizer will show the printing technique on the T-shirt. The technique is call Silk Screen printing method. This Technique is the oldest printing techniques. Before the invention of the printing press, the print industry as a whole uses Silk Screen and this technique has been widely used to this day. In modern times today, the more sophisticated the processes included in this technique without waiving its authenticity. The specialty of this technique is that it not only can be done on a material only, but it can be used in a variety of materials without limitations.           


To start the printing, we must choose the basic paint for printing. In this event the organizer choose white paint for basic color. The colors will pun into the block that has a logo on it. Using scourging, the paint will drag down till the end of the logo. This technique will perform several times until the color clear. After that, by guiding from Mr. Sharifudin each of the participants will do on they own to print the T-shirt. All of the participant was very satisfied with this event. Most of them especially the public was very interested in venturing into this printing business.

The 6th “闯梦” by the Association Chinese Club of 
Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia (UTHM)
  
After successful 5th “闯梦” 2012 in University Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM), Johor, Malaysia with more than 200 participants, the Chinese Association Club of UTHM which also known as Tiong Hua is proudly to organize the event called 6th “闯梦” on 5 Octorber 2013, 8:00 am which held inside the campus. This event starts since 2007 and is an annual event of Tiong Hua Club to welcome the newcomers to UTHM.


There were a total of 170 student participate for the event, where 140 student from main campus of UTHM Parit Raja while the rest 30 students from UTHM Pagoh. The main purpose of the event is to bring the students close to each other, to avoid the student’s only focus on their academic and to expose the students to outdoor activities. The event start by a simple open ceremony which consist of the current President of Tiong Hua Club, Mr Tan Zee Yong, Assistant President of Tiong Hua Club, Ms Pang Hui Er, Ex Present of Tiong Hua, Mr Lau Chun Khit and the event organizer , Mr Khor Lin Keat.



After the open ceremony, the following program is the the “Ice Breaking” activities.  This activity is important because it helps the students to get know and close with each other. The activities consist of singing, dancing and some simple games to breakout the tense and awkward environment among the students. Next, the students were divided into groups for further programs and the lunch is prepared for the students.





After the lunch break, there are the presentation of each club and society that are available in UTHM such as SIFE, IEM, HOPE and etc. Each club and society send their representative to give a roughly 5 minutes of speech to introduce their club activities to the newcomers student.




The following programs are the outdoor activities where each group of the students need to complete their task by complete the mission at every pit stop/ stations that prepare by the Tiong Hua Club. There are a total of 8 pit stop for the student to go around.






The event end with award ceremony by the event organizer Mr Khor Lin Keat, the prize given to the groups according to their achievement and performance throughout the day. Tiong Hua Club prepare buses to fetch the participants back to their hostel. Tiong Hua Club received many positive respond and support from the participants as they hope Tiong Hua Club will keep the event on going every year.
